Back to School 2020
Join CLASS on Tuesday 25th August at 7pm to discuss what changes we need in the education sector for a fairer future for the next generation.
About this Event
The recent A-Level results blunder is just one of the consequences of government failure on education. Ten years of austerity have starved institutions of funds; many academies and free schools lack transparency; and, marketisation of higher education has increased inequalities and undermined educational value. The Covid-19 lockdown has resulted in major new ripple effects for students, teachers, lecturers and support staff as well as intensified underlying issues.
As children and young people return to education major questions need answering. How are children and young people going to catch up in a way that doesn't put undue pressure on them and teaching staff, and doesn't further increase educational inequalities? What changes do we need in the education sector to ensure it invests in young people and values staff? How can we fight for changes in the curriculum that better reflect this country's colonial history? Join us for this event to understand the challenges for the 2020/21 school year.
