Jonathan J.B. Mijs
Jonathan is an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University (2017), where he remains a Fellow in Sociology.
He studies how (young) citizens learn about social inequality, and how they come to explain setbacks and success in their own life and that of others. His interests lie more broadly in the interplay between the structural and agentic forces that together shape the course of people’s lives. In previous work, he studied such processes in schools and educational policy, criminal justice, and in urban settings.
