Coronavirus and the Workers Emergency: Labour Market Realities 2020
This report is the third annual CLASS survey and analysis on the state of the UK labour market. It finds that 6 million workers fear being out of work in 6 months time, and that 60 percent of workers are just 3 months or less away from defaulting on their rent or mortgage. This indicates that the government's wage furlough has not stopped people feeling that they are perilously close to disaster.
The report, released amid the Coronavirus crisis, shows that labour market is not delivering secure and well-paid work for a large section of the population, and that workers are in a mood for change with widespread public support for giving carers, cashiers and delivery drivers a pay rise, and for taxing the wealthy more.
