CWU supports Class

19 February 2013

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is the latest trade union to give their full backing to the left-wing think-tank the Centre for Labour and Social Studies (Class).

Billy Hayes – General Secretary of the CWU said:

“The Coalition’s austerity policies have driven the economy back into recession, with the prospect of years of stagnation.  In these circumstances it is vital that the labour movement develops an alternative economic strategy for an incoming Labour government.  The Centre for Labour and Social Studies offers a progressive alternative to neo-liberal policies, and that is why the CWU has decided to support this important project.”

Other trade unions that support Class include Unite the Union, GMB, PCS, ASLEF, TSSA, and UCATT.
