What information do we collect about you?

We ask for basic information about you when you join a mailing list – your name, email address etc., and store this on MailChimp (see below). Website usage information is collected using cookies. We use two cookies – Google Analytics and ExpressionEngine. More information about these cookies is detailed below.

Why do we collect information?

We collect this information about you to send you emails about our work and how you can get involved. Other than our mailing list, we store human resources data on a secure and password-protected internal system run by Unite the Union.

Important principles we respect.

CLASS respects your privacy and will do our utmost to protect it. The data that you submit to sign up for updates is subject to UK data protection laws, which we will uphold in terms of holding your data.

We will use user data we collect from you only in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • to provide the updates to you
  • to provide and improve our service to you, to notify you of any changes to our terms and conditions of use.
  • to send you information about our other products and services if you so wish

Cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity.

CLASS has only two cookies:

  • Google Analytics – to help us monitor traffic, for example the number of visitors and how visitors travel from one page to another. We use this to improve sign-posting from page to page and to judge which content is most popular, in order to improve the visitor experience.
  • ExpressionEngine – this is a cookie from the platform on which our website is built, and is there simply to assess whether a visitor is a logged-in user (with access to the back-end) or not.

For further information visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.

You can set your browser not to accept cookies and the above websites tell you how to remove cookies from your browser. However, in a few cases, some of our website features may not function as a result.
