Dr Dave O’Brien
Lecturer at Goldsmiths University
Dr Dave O’Brien is a senior lecturer in cultural policy at Goldsmiths College, University of London. His work deals with a range of questions about cultural policy, including inequality, arts funding and value. Many of these issues are explored in his most recent book Cultural Policy, published by Routledge.
He has worked on the evaluation of European Capital of Culture in Liverpool and on measurement, economics and the arts for the UK’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport. He is currently working on three major research projects: One on the use of visual arts for those living with dementia; One on the creative economy in Birmingham and Manchester; and one on cultural value and inequality in the UK.
His forthcoming books are How Government Works, a book about civil service identity and decision-making, and After Regeneration, a co-edited collection on communities and urban regeneration.
